Personality
Tanwen Banks, or Tanny to friends and customers, is a renaissance woman at heart. She loves to lose herself in stories, in music, experimenting in the kitchen, or studying. To get out from under her mother's shadows, Tanny has registered as an Adventurer, putting her anatomical, alchemical, and aetheric studies to the test.Deep down though, she feels that she has no definition of who she is, that all she really has are her books. She is deeply afraid of letting people down.
Appearance
Tanwen is on the tall side for a Midlander, with soft pale skin from being indoors all day. She keeps her ginger hair in a braid, with ice blue eyes and a spattering of dark freckles. Her build is soft and willowy. Her wardrobe consists of comfortable clothing, wearing a pale green crystal around her neck, a herb pouch, and a number of earrings in her ears.
Background
Born in Ul'dah, but raised in Gridania, Tanwen is the eldest child and only daughter of Lady Arianwen Banks, and the late Eurwen Banks. Her brothers are Islwyn and Medwyn.The Banks family earned their status in their namesake: the banks.Arianwen (Ari), born in Limsa Lominsa during the Golden Age of Piracy, was raised on stories of exploration, but was let down by typical pirate antics that surrounded her. She set off for warmer climates and anchored in Ul'dah during the exiling of the Beastmen.It was here Arianwen cut her teeth on balancing books, trade relations, the counting houses, banking, and the Syndicate. During this time, Arianwen met her now late husband, Eurwyn, the son of a family fleeing Ala Mhigo after the civil war. Within a year, they were wed and siring Tanny, and two years later, her brothers, the twins Islwyn and Medwyn were born.Eurwen died very early on in Tanny's life, by apparent suicide, but her brothers believe it may have been Syndicate ties. Arianwen and her children left Ul'dah after Eurwyn's death, and relocated to Gridania.Arianwen would work as a liason between the Order of the Twin Adders and the Immortal Flames, and though she is all but retired now, she still acts in an advisor role.Medwyn felt the call of the sea and travelled to his mother's home port of Limsa Lominsa, working as a sailor and chef.Islwyn remains in Gridania, working as a carpenter with a history of fogweed and alcohol abuse.Tanny was still living with her mother well into Tanny's prime adventuring days, and Arianwen felt it time for her daughter to change that. Tanwen was sent into the world to find her destiny.
